The definition for me:  Philanthropy (from Greek φιλανθρωπία), etymologically means “love of humanity” in the sense of caring, nourishing, developing and enhancing “what it is to be human” on both the benefactors’ (by identifying and exercising their values in giving and volunteering) and beneficiaries’ (by benefiting) parts.

Everyone can define philanthropy their own way by giving their own time or money. Choose whatever cause you like. Choose what you believe is right, something close to your heart, or choose something based on your experience or something that has touched you. When we make a difference, we feel good and we do good. For myself, it’s second nature. I love fundraising and procurement. I always say that it is better to lose yourself in your passion than to lose your passion.
